Onn Speaker Replacement Battery — Official Accessories
Our official replacement battery restores full runtime to your Onn Large Party Speaker Gen 2 and select models. This 7.4V 5200mAh lithium-ion battery delivers up to 14 hours of playback per charge — the same performance as the original cell that shipped with your speaker.

This replacement uses the same Samsung-sourced 18650 lithium-ion cells found in the original battery pack. Each cell is rated for 2600mAh, and we pair two in series to achieve the 7.4V nominal voltage your speaker’s amplifier expects. The protection circuit board monitors cell voltage, temperature, and discharge current in real time.

Installation & speaker fit
The battery drops into the compartment on the underside of your Large Party Speaker Gen 2 without tools. Slide the latch to the unlock position, lift the old battery straight out by the pull tab, and seat the replacement until you hear both retention clips engage. The four-pin connector is keyed so you can’t reverse polarity.
Once installed, press the power button for two seconds to verify the LED ring illuminates. If the speaker won’t power on, press the battery firmly toward the rear wall of the compartment to ensure full connector seating. The total swap takes under 30 seconds, and you can perform it mid-event if you keep a charged spare on hand.

Safe Charging Practices
Charge the battery inside the speaker using the included 19V 3A barrel-jack adapter, or remove it and charge in the optional desktop dock. The speaker’s LED ring pulses amber during charge and turns solid white when the protection circuit signals 100 percent. Charging from empty to full takes approximately 4.5 hours at room temperature.
We recommend charging in a ventilated area away from direct sunlight. The pack may feel warm to the touch during the final 15 minutes of charge as the IC enters constant-voltage mode — this is normal. If the LED blinks red rapidly, disconnect power immediately and contact our support team, as this indicates a cell-balancing fault that requires inspection.

Onn Speaker Battery Replacement Questions
Signs you need a replacement include runtime dropping below six hours at moderate volume, the speaker shutting off unexpectedly even when the battery indicator shows charge remaining, or the battery feeling unusually warm during normal playback. Most users replace the battery after 18 to 24 months of regular use, though lighter use can extend that window to three years or more.
This battery is designed specifically for the Large Party Speaker Gen 2, which uses a 7.4V system. The original model runs on a different voltage and connector pinout. Check the label inside your speaker’s battery compartment — if it says Model ONP-GEN2, this replacement will fit. If the label shows Model ONP-GEN1, you’ll need the legacy battery SKU instead.
Leaving the battery installed is fine as long as the speaker remains powered off. The protection circuit draws less than 50 microamps in standby, so self-discharge is minimal. If you plan to store the speaker unused for more than a month, we recommend removing the battery and storing it at 40 to 60 percent charge in a cool, dry location to maximize long-term health.
Yes, if you have our optional Desktop Battery Charging Dock. The dock uses the same charge controller as the speaker and accepts the 19V barrel-jack adapter. Charging outside the speaker is convenient when you want to swap in a fresh battery mid-event without waiting for the depleted one to recharge inside the unit.
The four-pin connector is keyed with a notch that prevents reverse insertion. You physically cannot plug the battery in backward. If you try to force it, the plastic key will stop you before the pins make contact. This design eliminates the risk of polarity damage to the speaker’s charging circuit.
The lithium-ion cells inside are rated for approximately 500 full discharge cycles to 80 percent of original capacity. In practical use, this translates to two to three years for someone who fully drains and recharges the battery once per week. Partial cycles — recharging before the battery is fully empty — extend overall lifespan because you’re spreading wear across more total cycles.
Yes. The integrated protection circuit cuts charging current once the cells reach 8.4V, and the speaker’s charge controller switches to a maintenance trickle. Modern lithium-ion packs are designed to remain on the charger indefinitely without overcharge risk. That said, if you want to maximize long-term battery health, unplugging within an hour of the LED turning solid white is ideal, since holding a cell at 100 percent for days on end does accelerate calendar aging slightly.
